CODE OF CONDUCT
-
- According to our instructor’s and practitioner’s common understanding regarding the rules of conduct it is always mandatory to show respect to your training partners and teammates. This means:
-never try to purposely harm anyone physically (example: executing a damaging joint lock too fast combined with a cranking motion which does not give enough time for your training partner to react and tap in time.) -try to train regularly and seriously, so that you will be useful and beneficial not only to yourself, but also to your teammates. This will improve your as well as their skills, endurance and fighting spirit. If you are not concentrated enough during class and if you are not trying diligently to execute the correct movements which the instructor is showing, you are depriving yourself and your training partner of the opportunity to develop and grow.
- Do not be late for class. Try to be inside the dojo at least 10 minutes before the class starts. If you are late, wait beside the tatami and ask the instructor for permission to enter the class.
- Upon entering and leaving the dojo you are required to show respect by bowing. Before stepping inside the matted area and when leaving it, you should bow again.
- The official training session starts with a bow towards the instructor in charge of the class. All practitioners are required to line up according to their rank (belt) in a descending fashion.
- During class the students must follow the instructions given by the person leading the training session. Drilling moves of your personal choosing, which were not shown by the instructor is strictly forbidden. While he is demonstrating the techniques, everyone must be seated accordingly, in a respectable manner.
- Always fix your gi and tie your belt with your back towards the tatami. You should be facing the walls of the gym.
- If you must leave the tatami or the dojo, first ask the instructor for permission to do so.
- During a gi training session do not take off your kimono without a permission from the instructor.
- Do not talk while the instructor is demonstrating a technique or speaking. Not only is this disrespectful, but it also distracts the others, who have come to train and learn something valuable.
- Do not leave the tatami or go to the restroom while techniques are being shown to the class. This slows down the whole process of learning. If you need to do the activities listed above, you could do so after the training or during the break.
- IF THE INSTRUCTOR HAS NOT STOPPED THE REPETITION OF THE TECHNIQUE/DRILL, YOU DO NOT STOP PRACTICING IT. YOU CANNOT ASSURE ANYONE THAT YOU HAVE PRACTICED A TECHNIQUE ENOUGH.
- TALKING DURING TRAINING SESSION SHOULD BE MINIMIZED AND THE TOPICS SHOULD BE RELATED TO THE PRACTICE.
- ALWAYS SALUTE YOUR PARTNER BEFORE AND AFTER SPARRING SESSION ACCORDING TO THE MANNER ADOPTED IN THE GYM.
- ALWAYS KEEP GOOD HYGIENE (I.E. TAKE A SHOWER, BRUSH YOUR TEETH AND WASH YOUR FEET REGULARLY).
- KEEP YOUR FINGERNAILS AND TOENAILS SHORT AND CLEAN, SO YOU DO NOT HURT YOURSELF OR YOUR PARTNER.
- BRING CLEAN AND DRY TRAINING GEAR FOR EACH TRAINING SESSION, (GI OR NO-GI).
- DO NOT STEP ON THE MAT WITH SHOES, BRING YOUR FLIP-FLOPS, SO YOU DO NOT WALK AROUND THE MAT BAREFOOT. KEEP YOUR SHOES ON THE DESIGNATED ZONE.
- CONSUMING FOOD OR DRINKS ON THE MAT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN
19, DO NOT TRAIN IF YOU HAVE A FLU OR OTHER INFECTION, SO YOU DO NOT INFECT YOUR TEAMMATES. IF YOU HAVE A SKIN INFECTION OF ANY KIND, INFORM YOUR INSTRUCTOR IMMEDIATELY AND RESTRAIN YOURSELF FROM TRAINING.
- ALL JEWELRY AND METAL OBJECTS ON THE BODY OR THE CLOTHES MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE THE TRAINING SESSION.
- PHONE CONVERSATIONS ARE FORBIDDEN DURING TRAINING SESSION UNLESS THE EXPLICIT APPROVAL OF THE INSTRUCTOR(S). MOBILE PHONES SHOULD BE SWITCHED TO “SILENT MODE”
- (UN)DRESSING SHOULD BE PERFORMED ONLY IN THE DRESSING ROOMS. ALL OF THE FORGOTTEN CLOTHES AND TOWELS WILL BE THROWN AWAY, THEREFORE BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND.
- ONLY THE INSTRUCTORS AND PERSONS WHO HAVE AN EXPLICIT PERMISSION (IN ADVANCE) ARE ALLOWED TO KEEP CLOTHES AND FLIP-FLOPS IN THE GYM. EVERYTHING ELSE IS TO BE TREATED AS A SUBJECT OF P22.
- COMPLIANCE WITH THE ABOVE FUNDAMENTAL RULES WILL ALLOW THE TRAINING SESSIONS TO FLOW SMOOTHLY AND WILL ENABLE ALL THE PARTICIPANTS TO MAKE THE MOST OF IT.
